Welcome to the 2026 AYA Symposium!

The Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Program at Princess Margaret Hospital is proud to present the third annual AYA Symposium. This year, the first half day will be dedicated to sessions for patients and families, while the following one and a half days will be for health care providers.

The event will take place on September 23 and 24, 2026.

Day 1 (Morning): Patients and Families
The first half of Day 1 will feature sessions designed specifically for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients and their families.
Registration is free for patients and families.
Participants may choose to attend in person or virtually.

Patient Symposium - 3 Key Goals
1. Enhance Knowledge and Empower Self-Management
Provide AYA patients and families with clear, accessible information on resources, tools and strategies to support informed decision-making and self-advocacy.
2. Address Psychosocial and Quality-of-Life Needs
Deliver content focused on mental health, relationships, fertility, education/career disruption, and life transitions to improve overall well-being during and after treatment.
3. Build Community and Peer Support Networks
Create opportunities for connection among patients, survivors, and caregivers to reduce isolation and foster a sense of belonging within the AYA cancer community.

Day 1 (Afternoon): Healthcare Providers
The remainder of Day 1 will be dedicated to healthcare providers.
Healthcare providers may register for one or both days.
Both in-person and virtual attendance options are available.

Day 2: Healthcare Providers
All of Day 2 will be dedicated to healthcare providers.

Healthcare Provider Symposium - 3 Key Goals
1. Advance Evidence-Based AYA Clinical Care
Disseminate best practices informed by research and clinical guidelines to improve outcomes and standardize care for AYA patients.
2. Strengthen Multidisciplinary and Integrated Care Models
Promote collaboration across oncology, psychosocial care, fertility, and survivorship services to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care.
3. Foster Research Collaboration and Innovation
Facilitate networking, knowledge exchange to address gaps in AYA oncology and improve program impact.
